A Soft Beat
Silence settled first. Then, a slight tremor underneath me. I paused. In that stillness, I felt my long limbs loosen, gentle and receptive. With careful measure, I extended my right arm forward. My soft fabric hand touched the smooth paper edge of the green cardboard tag beside me. It swished faintly, a soft crisp cadence in the quiet air. I waited, listened to the reverberation, and stayed poised right where I rested.
