Climbing the Diamond Gaps
I scurried down the porch steps and ran right into the crisscross garden trellis! Diamond gaps, all the way up! I hooked my long arms through the lower slats and pulled. Up, up, up! A leafy vine tickled my face, but I kept wiggling higher. My hands latched securely onto the top rail, giving me a perch above the whole lawn. A tiny, weathered wooden birdhouse was fastened right beside my fingers. I leaned in close and tapped its roof with two knuckles. Knock, knock! Nobody was inside, but my feet swung happily in the breeze as I held on tight!
