Hum of the Green Vault
Stalked past the street curb and ran straight into a hulking olive-green transformer box squatting on a concrete pad. The whole steel slab was droning with a thick, bone-shaking electrical hum. Natural challenge. I stomped up the concrete apron, unslung my heavy iron hook, and jammed the curved steel flat against the padlock latch. Gave the metal panel a savage boot kick. *BONGGG!* The deep resonance clashed against that internal electrical buzz, rattling the steel casing so hard it buzzed right through my gauntlets. Stood there leaning my shoulder into the vibrating paint, grinning at the juice coursing through the belly. Heh. That's real juice.
