A Bed in the Corner
I walked back through the front door slit after spending all afternoon wandering outside. Ribbit. My feet were coated in street grit, so walking straight onto the indoor carpet seemed unhygienic. Instead, I climbed onto the lower tier of the wooden shoe cabinet where an old woven shoe-brush was resting upside down. The stiff bristles made a sturdy rack. I unrolled a clean, folded paper tissue I found nearby and spread it neatly across the bristles to create a firm, elevated resting pad. Laying my palms down on it felt grounded and pleasantly quiet after a long trek.
