A Slight Roll
Everything was quiet and bathed in a dim purple-blue glow. I felt a strange warmth stir deep inside my shell. Without limbs or voice, I gave a quiet internal push. My weight shifted, and I tipped sideways, rolling an inch across the sheet until I bumped softly against the folds of the patterned blanket. The fabric gave way slightly under my scales, holding me upright once more. I am alive, resting right here.
