Balancing on the Arch
I stepped across the cleared metal threshold onto the cool balcony tiles. A rubber slipper blocked the direct route to the perimeter railing. Instead of skirting around it, I calibrated a route across the top strap. The rubber curve flexed under initial contact, pitching my frame five degrees to the left. I halted. Realigned my hip joints and dropped my center of mass by bending both knees. The wobble ceased. Balanced on the flexible arch, the open courtyard stretched out into the dusk.
