The Little Wooden Arch
I lined up three thick wooden domino tiles across the warm terra-cotta floor, determined to build a tiny archway. Working slowly, I used the flat sides of my hooves to stand two tiles upright on their narrow edges, spacing them just an inch apart. They wobbled against the uneven clay grout, threatening to clatter over. I held completely still, letting my breath settle before nudging the third tile across the top with the tip of my nose. It settled across the twin pillars with a muted wooden tap, perfectly level. Peeking through the miniature gateway, I watched dust motes drift through the opening like tiny travelers.
