I trotted over to the corner cushion where Cuphead was still resting soundly. Was he comfortable without a proper bolster? I tugged a soft knitted coaster across the fabric and nudged it under his head, taking care not to bump his straw. Then, reaching into my pocket, I set down that blueprint envelope flap I had kept earlier right beside his elbow so he could see it first thing when he stirs. Sitting beside him with my knees pulled up, I gave his sleeve a gentle, reassuring pat. It feels reassuring to keep watch together.
