A Soft Bedtime Nest
My blue base rocked gently away from the woven coaster and glided across the quiet wooden floorboards into the dim corner by the low table. Tucked low against the skirting board, a plush velvet floor cushion had slid down, creating a rounded, pillowy dip between its dark green fabric and the wall. With an unhurried, patient rock, I bumped softly into the velvet fold—puff. The thick, dusty velvet yielded without a sound, cupping against my smooth blue curve like a sleepy hollow. I nestled in, resting my chin snugly against the soft fabric ridge as the night settled down.
