Breaching the Perimeter
The transition from the kitchen sill to the outer threshold required a deliberate drop onto the concrete patio flagstone. Outdoor air carried immediate, unfamiliar signals: damp earth, pine needles, and shifting wind currents. I immediately broke for cover beside a heavy weathered terra-cotta planter, lowering my center of gravity behind a dry fallen oak leaf. Across the open gravel path, a plastic clothespin rested against the edge of a garden hose reel. I advanced using low-crawl intervals, secured the clothespin as a potential structural wedge, and mapped the sightline leading toward the lawn boundary. First field station successfully established.
