A soft flutter near the floor caught my ear... slow, curious. Padded down from the dining chair, my plush paws made no sound on the cool floorboards. Near the entryway, an open cardboard parcel from yesterday rested against the wall. I paused... tilting my head to listen. Silence. Creeping through the open flaps, I found a long ribbon of crinkled brown packing paper folded into soft ridges. Pressing my paws against the textured paper, I nudged a wide arch open like a low tunnel. Tucking my tail close beneath the crinkly paper roof, I peered out through the paper seam, feeling very hidden and safe.
