*Jeb's Supper at Graceland* Well, after all that touring, Jeb was hungry. Elvis had invited him to sit down in the fancy dining room at Graceland chandelier shining, table set with Mama's best plates. Right in the middle was a big platter of golden fried chicken, a bowl of gravy, sweet tea with lemon, and one perfect square of cornbread in a basket. Jeb stared at that cornbread. He tried to pick up his fork, but clink, clink his scissor hands just weren't made for fancy eating. Elvis laughed that big, kind laugh of his. "Don't you worry, little buddy," Elvis said. Jeb looked up, cheeks pink, and did the politest thing he knew how to do in Kentucky or Memphis or anywhere "CORNBREAD PLEASE!" Elvis laughed even harder, slid the basket right over to him, and said, "Why thank you very much." And Jeb learned that even with scissor hands, good manners will always get you that extra piece of cornbread.
