A Small Harbor of Felt
I walked back inside after the long trek from the shore, letting the familiar hush of the room welcome me. My hooves felt the soft, dense pile of the bedside rug. Right near the wooden nightstand leg, a warm wool felt slipper lay resting sideways. Its rounded opening was deep and quiet. Without rushing, I stepped inside and curled down into its cushioned curve. My fleece settled against the soft interior lining, holding all the cozy warmth of the room. I let my head rest against the felt lip, listening to the gentle evening settle into dark.
